Night of the Living End / Happy Future

1999
Performance

Millennial tension, future shock, and digital desire drive this performance.  Night footage shot with an old surveilance camera of San Francisco's industrial waterfront is joined with Lina Romay's hypnotic eyes from Jess Franco's underground erotic horror masterpiece "Female Vampire", animated textual statements, and bursts of static. A shipyard landscape as seen through the night-vision eyes of a zombie, detached surveilance and digital desire - all of these events are eventless (and by extension, Y2K fears). These non-evenst as stasis (static); the periodic interruptions of static are the only "real" events.
